From blood draw to single cell analysis

Tethis has developed the Smart BioSurface system for circulating tumor cell capture (SBS- CTC), enabling the adhesion of tumorigenic living cells on the target surface for subsequent analysis without any pre-determined selection, as cells are not selected on the basis of specific markers or physical properties.

Standardized blood specimen pretreatment provides a solid foundation for clinical data robustness and harmonization among different laboratories.

For hospitalized patients, SBS ready-to-use technology is deployed in partnership with the hospital for in-situ blood pretreatment. It avoids blood sample degradation caused by shipping procedures and specimen preservatives.

Immunological analysis

White blood fraction is investigated with tumor-specific antibodies by analyzing the immunofluorescence signals on every single cell by means of an automatic instrument with deep learning (AI) functionality.

Histological analysis

Immunologically positive cells can be further investigated in a bright field supporting pathologist’s diagnosis. Both immunofluorescence and histological cell images are remotely accessible by an external pathologist for a third opinion, medical consultants, or “tech-only” provided services.

Aberration Investigation

Depending on the type of cancer and clinical requirements, genetic analysis is then performed at a single cell level to identify specific mutations (SNVs), genetic disorders (CNV), or tumor-specific mutations patterns, through FISH (fluorescence in situ hybridization) and NGS (next-generation sequencing).
